Bucchigiri Episode 1 Recap

The initial episode commences with Tomoshibi Arajin practicing self-introductions before a mirror, harboring hopes of finding a partner. However, his optimism wanes upon discovering that his high school class is predominantly comprised of male students. Yet, he establishes a friendship with Mahoro, the sole female in the class.
Post-school hours, Arajin plans to meet Mahoro but encounters interference from Zabu and Komao, who decide to target him. Attempting to evade them, he coincidentally encounters a towering figure, revealed to be his old acquaintance, Matakara Asamine.
They share a history of training together to become Honki people. The term “Honki person” is defined as someone who discovers a resolute heart, relinquishing weapons and armor in the pursuit of reaching the pinnacle, reminiscent of an era when samurai were known as such. A flashback unveils a past incident where Arajin witnessed Asamine being bullied from a concealed location. Despite this, Asamine views Arajin as a courageous and potent individual, albeit one averse to conflict.
Doubting Arajin’s strength, Zabu arranges for some individuals to harass him. Seeking refuge at a shrine, Arajin stumbles upon a toy gun. Pursued by his tormentors, he fires the gun in an attempt to deter them, but a rebounding bullet renders him unconscious.
Upon awakening, Arajin discovers a silver object lodged in his head. While attempting to remove it, Senya, a Majin or Honki Person, materializes, offering to grant him any desire. Arajin grapples with uncertainty regarding his true wishes.
Subsequently, Arajin embarks on a date with Mahoro, only to face aggression from her assertive brother, Marito Jin. In a seemingly dire situation, Arajin manifests his determination to fight for his life and Mahoro.
