Sony has officially announced that Grand Theft Auto 5 will join the Extra tier of the PlayStation Plus subscription service from Tuesday, December 19, along with 13 additional games. The Extra tier of PlayStation Plus offers subscribers access to a diverse range of PS4 and PS5 games that regularly change availability. This is different from the PS Plus Essential games, which are the monthly free games that subscribers can permanently retain as long as they remain subscribed to PS Plus.
