Magic: The Gathering’s Secret Lair: Monster Hunter Superdrop has been officially revealed, and the crossover is already shaping up to be one of the year’s biggest collectible releases. Wizards of the Coast is bringing Capcom’s blockbuster franchise into MTG through four themed drops, exclusive surge-foil editions, and multiple bundles aimed at both players and collectors. This guide breaks down every card, every drop, pricing, and what you should buy before stock runs out.

The Superdrop launches on December 1, 2025, exclusively through the Secret Lair storefront. As with previous Superdrops, availability is limited and surge-foil bundles are expected to sell out the fastest.

What’s Inside the Secret Lair: Monster Hunter Superdrop

The Monster Hunter Superdrop is split into four drops: The Hunt, The Hunters, The Monsters, and The Monsters II. These feature existing MTG cards redesigned with Monster Hunter art and alternate titles that reflect characters, locations, and monsters from the series.

The Hunt

A spell-focused lineup themed around hunts and iconic moments:

  • Blind Obedience
  • Snap
  • Village Rites
  • Mizzium Mortars
  • Tooth and Nail

The Hunters

A character-based lineup centered on Monster Hunter’s most recognizable roles:

  • Grand Abolisher
  • Archaeomancer
  • Grim Haruspex
  • Imperial Recruiter
  • Champion of Lambholt

The Monsters

A heavy-hitting drop reimagining legendary MTG creatures as towering Monster Hunter beasts:

  • Nezahal, Primal Tide
  • Drakuseth, Maw of Flames
  • Ziatora, the Incinerator
  • Vaevictis Asmadi, the Dire
  • Sarulf, Realm Eater

The Monsters II

A second wave of monster-themed reprints:

  • Razaketh, the Foulblooded
  • Kalamax, the Stormsire
  • Wasitora, Nekoru Queen
  • Amareth, the Lustrous

Collectors and Commander players get strong reprints, while Monster Hunter fans get some of the most accurate and detailed cross-franchise art Secret Lair has done so far.

Pricing and Bundle Options

Each individual drop keeps the standard Secret Lair pricing structure:
$29.99 for non-foil and $39.99 for foil editions.

The bundle lineup is much larger and includes:

  • Master Rank Everything Bundle (includes English and Japanese versions)
  • Hunter’s Carve bundles
  • Surge Foil bundles
  • Multi-drop Superdrop bundles

Select bundles include an exclusive Sol Ring promo card while supplies last, and these tend to disappear quickly during previous Superdrops.

Surge Foils: The Collector Chase Variant

Surge foils are once again the premium highlight, featuring a shimmering, ripple-like finish that tends to sell out and appreciate quickly on the secondary market. The Monster Hunter crossover uses surge foils heavily, making those bundles the first target for collectors looking for rarity and long-term value.

What to Buy Based on Your Goal

For players:
Choose individual drops with cards you’ll actually run in decks. Non-foils are the most cost-efficient.

For collectors:
Go for the surge-foil bundles or the Master Rank Everything Bundle. These versions historically become the highest-value variants.

For Monster Hunter fans:
The Monsters and Monsters II drops offer the best franchise representation and most recognizable creatures.

Early Media and Community Response

Coverage across gaming outlets highlights this as one of the most ambitious MTG crossovers yet. Fans of both franchises are praising the card selection, art direction, and the scale of the Superdrop, which includes both monster and hunter representations. Collectors have already flagged the surge-foil bundles as potential instant sellouts.

Should You Buy It?

The Secret Lair: Monster Hunter Superdrop delivers a rare combination of premium art, fan-favorite monsters, and high-demand MTG reprints. With multiple bundles, language options, and exclusive foils, this drop appeals to almost every type of buyer. When the Superdrop goes live on December 1, 2025, expect popular bundles to sell out quickly.
